An opportunity has arisen for a new permanent, full-time team member within the Payments Team based in Douglas.
Reporting to the Payments Manager, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for processing a variety of payments and expenses.
As a Senior Payments Technician, you’ll play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the team. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the verification and authorisation of payments, maintaining strong system controls, and ensuring business-as-usual (BAU) activities are delivered to the highest standards. You’ll also act as a key escalation point, mentor team members, and deputise for the Payments Manager when required.
Main responsibilities include:
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in outward payments, banking platforms, journaling, and MI reporting.
- Support the Payments Manager in the daily running of the team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all payments and receipts.
- Maintain and enhance system controls, identifying and implementing improvements where necessary.
- Analyse management information (MI) to identify trends, reduce risk, and improve internal processes and customer experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners and internal stakeholders.
- Provide training, mentoring, and support to team members, ensuring high standards of accuracy and performance.
- Represent the team in meetings and projects, contributing technical expertise and leadership.
- Confidently manage workloads and priorities in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Required skills and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ operational experience in payments and accounts payable.
- Expert user of banking platforms or similar.
- Expert user of Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Experience mentoring others and leading by example.
